Rejected Front Cover Idea

I created this on Photoshop by using two different layers of the same image. I took my main image and increased the Hue to turn the overall image neon blue on one of the layers. By doing this, it increased the brightness of the butterfly, bringing out vibrant blue, green and pink shades. On the other layer, I turned the image black and white. I then placed a layer mask on the two images which combined them together. This then enabled me to keep the photo in black and white, but have the hued brightness on the butterflies. This created a unique look to the magazine front cover as this idea as not been used before. However, I abandoned this version half way through after I decided that I wanted my main image on the front cover to be in colour as at the end we are being marked in colour. After peer assessment of this rejected product it was agreed that I should have my main image in full colour as it would be more eye-catching towards my target audience.
